Need way more traffic? Need highly qualified traffic for free? Then you’ll want to read about Amazon influencer marketing with Brian Burt.
Brian got his start at a digital marketing agency where he was doing SEO. In 2013, after an update to Google’s algorithm, about 95% of his clients lost their Google ranking. He had just got engaged, all his clients fired him, and one even sued him for $10 million. After that, he had to pivot.
A friend of his was doing six-figures on Amazon so Brian asked for help. He put in everything he had left into selfie-sticks. In the first 30 days, he sold 18 units.
One thing he did at the marketing agency was going to YouTubers and internet figures and ask them to promote his clients’ products. So, he decided to do the same for his selfie sticks. He got a couple of YouTubers to do a review and that caught the attention of a tech blogger/YouTuber who did a major cross-promotion between his blog and YouTube. After that, Brian sold out of his selfie sticks in 17 hours (over 900 units!).
Influencer marketing is a new buzz word floating around Amazon and most people don’t even know what that means. The reason you need to know is that it’s a great way to get people off Amazon and often for free. Recently a member of my 10k Collective ran an influencer marketing campaign and sold about half his inventory in a couple days and that cost him nothing.
Brian hears this kind of story every day in his courses. He gets influencers on every social media platform to provide endorsements.
Influencer marketing is subtle, almost in passing as opposed to an advertisement which is more in your face. It’s Kim Kardashian posting a picture on Instagram of her using a product. There is a time and a place for direct sales and adverts, but the younger generation doesn’t want that.
Amazon influencer marketing isn’t really well known among Amazon sellers yet. That’s probably because in the past, you could put your product on Amazon and let Amazon do all the work. Now it’s become increasingly competitive. Amazon now rewards people that drive external traffic that converts. Therefore, Amazon influence marketing is a new, exciting tool that will be relevant for years to come and really does wonders for your bottom line.
It’s really split into two groups of influencers. For the top Instagram and YouTube personalities, think Kim Kardashian, they’re getting paid anywhere from $500k-$750k for one post. That is way too much for the average seller. On the other end of the spectrum are the people that are undervalued. It may cost $100-$200 (or even nothing) when they have a million YouTube subscribers.
Brian has come up with a really interesting way to get the endorsement for free. It’s all through targeting micro-influencers. These are the people that have 1000-10,000 followers up to 100k at the max. The audience engagement is huge between 1000 and 10,000 and then it plateaus at 100k. The micro-influencers are happy to do these endorsements because they need content.
The unique part is that Brian and his team approaches the influencer with a clear “Content “Strategy” for their video, or Instagram, or pin. That’s when you help structure the influencer’s story for both the benefit of their audience (and the influencer) and of course, for your product!
One of the most popular Amazon influencer marketing strategies is to run contests. One video will be the product review/endorsement. The second video would be a contest for the product where the influencer can give away free products to their audience.
They get free content and a great way to engage with her audience, and you get incredible exposure to a highly engaged audience.
Amazon marketing is more than just selling more units. Using Amazon influencer marketing has shown to boost listings so they rank on page one and can double or triple your reviews.
